Partnerships

United by a shared vision to tackle global crises and improve the future of urban living for all, SHIFT is a powerful collective of world-leading organisations, thinkers and creatives. You can find out more about some of our current partners below.

If you are interested in becoming a SHIFT partner, we’d love to hear from you.

Founding Partners

We have carefully curated a community at Here East that encourages collaboration across a diverse range of academic institutions, fast-growth technology – enabled businesses and global corporates. This collaboration must extend across the park, and that’s why we’re delighted to be involved in SHIFT. Together we will seek to solve some of London’s most pressing problems – including ensuring people have the right skills for future jobs. As we map out the next ten years of the Olympic Park, we must continue to build on the foundations we’ve put in place to ensure we provide fair and equal access to acquire digital skills.

The community we have already created at Here East will help SHIFT achieve this goal.

UCL has a proud history of disruptive thinking and innovation for good. We were the first university to welcome people of all faiths, or no faith, and to educate women on an equal footing with men. Nearly 200 years later, that inclusive approach runs through everything we do on our new UCL East campus on Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. We nurture everything from ideas to enterprises, charities to spinout companies. We offer research, knowledge exchange, study and prototyping.

As a founding SHIFT partner, we look forward to collaborating with you and our partners on our new campus. UCL is where research transforms lives.

University of the Arts London (UAL) aims to change the world through its creative endeavour. We bring our expert approach to innovation and sustainability to the project through UAL’s London College of Fashion (LCF), which is moving to a new single campus on the Park in 2023.  LCF supports businesses, fosters innovation and drives economic and social transformation in East London through the Fashion District. And we deliver sustainable R&D and lead ground – breaking research in new material developments through UAL Fashion, Textiles and Technology Institute.

Our participation in SHIFT will help us in our ambitions to address key challenges around social and climate justice.

Lendlease is driven by an ambition to create better, more sustainable places where communities can thrive. Innovation is central to those objectives, embedded in how we work day to day and how we deliver and manage major urbanisation projects across global cities. At IQL, Lendlease’s flourishing 24-hour neighbourhood on the Olympic Park, we have seen first-hand how co-location can fuel interactions, collaboration and projects that otherwise wouldn’t have been possible.

By formalising SHIFT, we are joining forces with the biggest names from academia, fashion, technology and science, and attracting international attention and investment to Stratford, we can tackle global challenges faster and create better places for future generations.

Researchers and academics from Loughborough University, and its dedicated postgraduate campus on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, work together with companies and organisations from a range of sectors to tackle the everyday challenges they face.  SHIFT will harness the collaborative power of a network of innovation partners who have a shared vision to make a real difference. It will expand the opportunities for us to translate our expertise to help drive social change and boost prosperity.

Organisations from London, the UK and around the world will be able to work in partnership with our researchers, many of whom are leaders in their field, to drive forward innovation to meet their business, economic and social needs.

Plexal is the innovation company that builds collaborative ecosystems. We help industry and the government unlock the power of technology, collaborate and build solutions together. Our workspace at Here East is home to over 800 startups and scaleups, corporations and social enterprises. And our innovation teams deliver projects for some of the most influential government departments and global tech companies, including the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, the National Cyber Security Centre, IBM and Amazon Web Services.

We look forward to working with SHIFT and its partners to help them collaborate with innovators.

The London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games left a unique legacy at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and the London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) was established to keep the flame alive; to make sure that the transformative legacy of the Games had a positive and long-lasting impact in the lives of local residents, visitors and all Londoners.

Our work with SHIFT represents a moment in time; a chance to formalise our ongoing collboration with incredible partners and organisations and super-charge the inclusive innovation potential of this unique part of London.

“We have already seen the incredible physical transformation that London 2012 brought to East London - ten years on, it's vital that we use this to create a genuine, long-lasting and inclusive legacy for local people, and the launch of SHIFT is a major boost to the work the host boroughs and the LLDC are already doing to maximise the opportunities created at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. ”
