Trial Support:

This project was funded by the EU Horizon programme as part of the broader CommuniCity initiative, which supports innovative solutions to digital and urban challenges faced by marginalised communities. The initiative includes 100 tech pilots across 17 cities.

The Innovation Team supported Accessify to design and implement a trial in real-world conditions within the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, engaging directly with users to evaluate and refine the platform in real time.

The Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park Innovation District team connected Accessify to various venues and stakeholders at the Park. They facilitated initial discussions around the accessibility provisions and challenges that venues face in their day-to-day activities and during large-scale events.

The findings from this phase directly informed the platform development, helped refine digital accessibility features, and directly shaped the physical trial at the park.

Trial Activity

During the trial, participants used the digital platform to navigate the space on the park, and reach selected destinations. The trial was designed to test the platform’s navigation and obstacle reporting tools, and overall user interface catered to the requirements of the participants.

The trial prioritised lived-experiences by involving individuals with diverse mobility requirements throughout the pilot, from the co-creation phase to the live testing. During the live testing, the team provided clear instructions, dedicated support staff, and accessible spaces for feedback to ensure participants felt safe, heard, and valued.

  • “At Accessify, we believe that accessibility should not be a privilege but a standard. Collaborating with Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park has given us a unique opportunity to understand the challenges faced by venues and visitors alike.

By leveraging AI and crowdsourced data, we aim to bridge the gap between accessibility information and real-world experiences, ensuring that everyone can navigate public spaces and cultural experiences with confidence and ease.”
