Project description: Bird is an electric bike and scooter company providing eco-friendly transportation for riders in over 400 cities around the world. In 2018, it was the first company to launch an electric scooter pilot in the UK, and for a three-month period, people heading from Stratford to Here East were able to find and book an electric scooter through the Bird app.

Project benefits: With London’s infrastructure at capacity, it’s important to turn to new technologies to find innovative solutions to age-old problems. Bird has helped to solve ‘the last mile’ problem, where journeys are too short for public transport to be efficient, but too long to walk. Many of these journeys have traditionally taken place in cars adding to congestion and carbon emissions. Bird is giving people an environmentally friendly alternative to taking a car.
